Bronn is a mythical Nordic hero in Umbrian lore, long before Ullr came along in the times of pre-history. As the story goes, he was the first human who was given free will, which of course was an act of Loki once again rebelling against his elder brother Jarl’s wishes (Jarl, the god of order and law, saw no benefit or need for the chaos of free will). His first action was to awaken the minds of his fellow men and women, giving them all a mind of their own, and thus starting the history of the Nord race.
However, that is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to stories about or related to Bronn. Whether it’s defying members of the Pantheon, slaying beasts, or having romantic relations with all manner of animate and not-so-animate objects (dryads have to come from somewhere), Bronn is a figure who has become so ingrained in Nordic culture that there’s even the expletive “Bronn’s blood!”
